Jets Designate Veteran S Marcus Gilchrist Post-June 1 Release

The New York Jets officially designated veteran S Marcus Gilchrist as a post-June 1 release.

According to OverTheCap.com, this move will free up $6 of available cap space while creating $1,375,000 in dead money.

The New York Jets announced that they’ve released veteran S Marcus Gilchrist and placed FB Chris Swain on waivers Thursday.

Gilchrist, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2011. After four years San Diego, Gilchrist signed a four-year, $22 million contract with $8.5 million guaranteed in March of 2015.

Gilchrist was set to make a base salary of $6 million in 2017.

In 2016, Gilchrist appeared in 13 games and recorded 55 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and three pass defenses.
