Jets Release WR Jeremy Kerley

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports the Jets have released WR Jeremy Kerley.

  • His release will create $1.3 million in cap space for the Jets.

Rich Cimini of ESPN wrote two weeks ago that Kerley could be on the chopping block, so his release shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Kerley, 27, only played out one-year from a four-year, $16 million extension with $5.4 million guaranteed that he signed in 2014. He was set to earn a base salary of $2.5 million for 2016.

In 2015, Kerley appeared in all 16 games and accumulated 16 receptions for 152 yards and one touchdown. He also spent time as a punt returner, gathering 411 total yards.
