Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network expects the Jets to show interest in Michael Vick, Josh McCown and Matt Schaub, assuming he’s released.
- Rapoport adds that this is dependent upon the Jets releasing QB Mark Sanchez in the coming days.
- Seth Walder of the New York Daily News recently reported that the Jets have expressed “some level” of interest in Lions free agent QB Shaun Hill.
Michael Vick
Vick, 33, is considered to be the best available quarterback in this year’s free agent market and has said that he is looking for another opportunity to start. We’ll have to see if anyone is willing to offer him that opportunity now that the Jaguars and Vikings are essentially out of the picture.
Josh McCown
McCown mentioned during an ESPN interview Monday morning that he has spoken to four teams, per Mike Freeman.
Last year, McCown completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 1,829 yards to go along with 13 touchdowns and just a single interception.
Matt Schaub
Schaub, 32, still has three years remaining on his five-year, $66.15 million contract. The Texans owe him a base salary of $10 million to go along with $1 million in per-game roster bonuses next season.
It’s been widely assumed that the Texans would try to get out from underneath Schaub’s $14.125 million cap figure and take the savings, even though they would free up just $3.625 million by releasing him, according to OverTheCap.com.
Shaun Hill
Hill, 34, signed a two-year deal with Detroit back in 2012 and spent the past two years backing up Matthew Stafford in Detroit.
He’s considered to be one of the better backup quarterback options in the league, but he hasn’t seen a lot of action since 2010 when he played in 11 games for Detroit.
