Jets Reportedly “Very Intrigued” By FSU WR Kelvin Benjamin

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, citing a team source, reports that the Jets are “very intrigued” by Florida State WR Kelvin Benjamin

“You can’t teach 6-5,” the Jets source tells Mehta.

Previous reports have mentioned that the Jets are expected to target receivers in the draft, despite signing Eric Decker and Jacoby Ford in free agency.

USC’s Marqise Lee, Oregon State’s Brandin Cooks, and LSU’s Odell Beckham. have all come up speculative options for the Jets in the first round, but neither of them off the size Benjamin does.

Greg Cosell recently mentioned on the Ross Tucker Podcast that he believes Benjamin is a “slightly” better prospect than Texas A&M’s Mike Evans.

Cosell also pointed to Benjamin’s size and ability to play the ball in the air as two distinguishable features that could translate at the next level.

Former second-round pick, Stephen Hill, also possesses good size at receiver, however, he has yet to show any signs of being the kind of weapon they envisioned him being when they drafted him back in 2012.

The Jets could always target a tight end in the first round as well, but they appear to be in a decent position to take the best available receiver.
