Jets Restructure RB Mike Goodson’s Contract

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, the Jets restructured RB Mike Goodson‘s contract in recent days.

  • Cimini mentions that Goodson’s 2014 cap figure of $1.9 million has been reduced to $1.28 million.
  • Cimini adds that Goodson’s $650,000 roster bonus appears to be what has been reworked given that it no longer counts towards the team’s salary cap.

Goodson, 26, signed a three-year, $6.9 million contract that included $1.925 million guaranteed with the Jets last year.

He was arrested back in May of last year for weapons charges and possession of marijuana back in May. Goodson pleaded not guilty to the weapon charges a few months ago, but could be facing prison time if convicted.

Goodson’s first year with the Jets ended in October when he tore both his ACL and MCL. He finished the year with just seven carries for 67 yards rushing to go along with two receptions for 19 yards receiving.
