Jets Rookie WR ArDarius Stewart Underwent Groin & Thumb Surgeries

Jets HC Todd Bowles announced Wednesday that third-round WR ArDarius Stewart underwent thumb and groin surgeries in recent weeks, but is still expected to be back in time for training camp, per Connor Hughes.

Bowles added that both of the procedures were to repair pre-existing injuries, per Manish Mehta.

This explains why Stewart was sidelined during the team’s recent practices.

Now that the Jets have moved on from Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, there should be plenty of opportunity for Stewart during his rookie season, so it makes sense for him to take care of these issues now to ensure he’ll be 100 percent for the start of the season.

Stewart, 23, was selected with the No. 79 overall pick by the Jets in this year’s NFL draft. According to OverTheCap.com, Stewart will receive a four-year contract worth $3,246,324, which includes a signing bonus of $846,324.

During his three-year college career at Alabama, Stewart caught 129 passes for 1,713 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns.
