Jets S Marcus Gilchrist Undergoing Season-Ending Knee Surgery

Rich Cimini reports that Jets S Marcus Gilchrist is undergoing season-ending knee surgery at some point in the near future for a ruptured patellar tendon.

The Jets will likely place him on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their active roster.

Gilchrist, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2011. After four years San Diego, Gilchrist signed a four-year, $22 million contract with $8.5 million guaranteed in March of last year.

Gilchrist stands to make base salaries of $5 million and $6 million over the next two years.

Entering today’s game, Gilchrist had appeared in 12 games and recorded 50 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and three pass defenses.
