Jets Scheduled To Meet With LB David Harris’ Agent At Combine

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports that the Jets are scheduled to meet with the agent free agent ILB David Harris at the Combine this week.

• Cimini adds that Harris is the Jets’ No. 1 free agent.

Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report previously mentioned that Harris will be the top inside linebacker on the open market this year “without question.”

Sources told Cole last month that Harris is not 100 percent committed to being back with the Jets next year, and his preference would be to play for a contender. However, Cole did say that Harris would like to finish out his career as a member of the Jets.

Cole believes Harris would be willing to take less in terms of salary for an opportunity to make the playoffs and contend for a Super Bowl championship.

There has been some speculation that Rex Ryan would like to lure Harris to Buffalo next year, but it sounds like he may look for a more proven team to sign with.

It will be interesting to see if things progress between the Jets and Harris over the next few weeks.

Harris, 31, finished out his four-year contract worth $36 million, which included $29.5 million guaranteed.

In 2014, Harris recorded 124 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has Harris rated as the No. 29 inside linebacker out of 60 qualifying players.
