Jets Showing Interest In BenJarvus Green Ellis?

Brian Costello of the New York Post reports that the Jets have interest in former Patriots RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis according to his source.

Green-Ellis met with the Bengals yesterday but there have been reports that a “mystery team” was showing interest in him so the Jets could very well be that team. Costello does mention that New York’s interest  is just “preliminary” and adds that “nothing is imminent” at this point.

The market for veteran running backs has been pretty slow thus far, even though Green-Ellis has never fumbled in his entire NFL career. Kansas City was previously mentioned as a possibility for him but that was before they signed Peyton Hillis. The Patriots are hoping to retain him as well so the Jets may have to move quickly if they’re going to lure him away from New England.
