Jets Sign 9 Players To Futures Deals Including QB Joel Stave

The New York Jets announced Monday that they’ve signed nine players to futures deals for the 2018 season.

The full list includes:

  1. G Ben Braden
  2. T Korren Kirven
  3. WR Jalin Marshall
  4. WR Tre McBride
  5. DL Claude Pelon
  6. DB Terrell Sinkfield
  7. QB Joel Stave
  8. WR Damore’ea Stringfellow
  9. WR Daniel Williams

Stave, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin back in May of last year. He was, unfortunately, waived at the start of the regular season before signing on to the Vikings’ practice squad.

The Vikings cut Stave loose back in November of last year and he later signed on to the Seahawks’ practice squad after clearing waivers. Stave didn’t last long with the Seahawks but was eventually signed to the Chiefs’ practice squad where he finished out the season.

Kansas City elected to move on from Stave as they cut their roster down to 53 players. Stave had a brief stint on the Redskins’ practice squad before catching on with the Jets a few months ago.

During his four-year college career, Stave threw for 7,635 yards while completing 59.5 percent of his passes to go along with 48 touchdowns and 37 interceptions.

Marshall, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State back in May of last year. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and stands to make a base salary of $540,000 for the 2017 season.

The Jets activated Marshall last week after serving a four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

New York elected to waive him a few months into the season before re-signing him to their practice squad.

In 2016, Marshall appeared in 10 games for the Jets and caught 14 passes for 162 yards receiving and two touchdowns. He also contributed 324 kick return yards and another 100 punt return yards last season.
