Jets Officially Sign CB Antonio Cromartie To A Four-Year, $32M Deal

Update

The New York Jets finally announced the signing of CB Antonio Cromartie on Wednesday.

I don’t think it’s so much déjà vu. I just look at it as a chance to come back home,” Cromartie said. “The opportunity presented itself and I took advantage of it.

A lot, to be honest with you,” he said. “I’ve got a home here, the schools are good for our kids. It was just an opportunity to get back into the city, a big marketplace like New York, and to start looking at things from a business standpoint.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Jets have reached agreement with CB Antonio Cromartie.

  • Manish Mehta reports that Cromartie receives a four-year deal with a base value of $32 million from the Jets.

All indications were that Cromartie would be back in New York once free agency was open for business.

Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson even mentioned that returning to New York was all Cromartie ever talked about, so this really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

The Jets have spent a bunch of money to improve their secondary now that they’ve added Darrelle Revis and Buster Skrine in recent days.

Cromartie, 30, recorded three interceptions, 10 pass deflections, and 48 tackles for the Cardinals last season. Pro Football Focus rated Cromartie as the No. 45 overall cornerback out of 108 qualifiers last season.

We had Cromartie currently rated as the No. 43 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
