Jets Sign Former 49ers WR Quinton Patton

The New York Jets announced the signing of former 49ers WR Quinton Patton on Thursday.

The Jets brought Patton in a for a workout last weekend, so he was clearly on their radar as a potential addition.

It is worth mentioning that Jets OC John Morton was Patton’s position coach with the 49ers for two seasons, which should help his transition to a new team.

Patton, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the 49ers in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech. He just finished the final year of a four-year, $2.551 million rookie contract that included a $391,500 signing bonus.

Patton went down with a foot injury during Week 15’s game against the Falcons and was subsequently placed on the season-ending injured reserve.

In 2016, Patton appeared in 14 games for the 49ers and recorded 37 receptions for 208 yards receiving with no touchdowns. ProFootballFocus rates him as the No. 97 overall wide receiver out of 115 qualifying players.
