Jets sign Mangold to contract extension

According to ESPN, a league source has indicated that the New York Jets have signed Nick Mangold to a new seven-year, worth $55 million. This contract could be signed by later this afternoon.

The Jets have had a number of contract extensions to deal with this season but unlike Darrelle Revis, Mangold choose to report to camp despite being unhappy with his current situation. “Holding out didn’t fit my personality,” Mangold said. “It’s not me, it’s not who I am, and it’s not what I do.”

Rex Ryan even added that he felt that Mangold may be the best center in the NFL which is probably why the team made an effort to lock him up.
