Jets Sign RB Lache Seastrunk, Waive/Injured RB Matthew Tucker

The New York Jets announced Saturday that they’ve signed RB Lache Seastrunk to a contract and waived RB Matthew Tucker with an injury designation.

Should Tucker clear waivers tomorrow, he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list.

Seastrunk, 25, was selected in the sixth-round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Redskins. However, he was unable to make the final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason during his rookie.

Seastrunk later caught on with the Panthers briefly before signing to the Titans practice squad in October of last year. Tennessee wound up bringing back on a future/reserve contract, but later waived him a few after last year’s draft.

The Cowboys elected to sign him to a contract back in June before cutting him loose during the preseason.

Seastrunk was a five-star recruit coming out of high school, but he would later transfer to Baylor. He produced 2,189 yards rushing on 289 carries (7.57 YPC) and 18 TDs for the Bears over the course of two years.

Tucker, 25, signed on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of TCU back in May of 2013. He was on and off of their practice squad since joining the Eagles, but was waived from their non-football injury list back in February.

The Jets signed Tucker to a contract a few weeks ago.

In 2013, Tucker appeared in two games for the Eagles, but didn’t record a single statistic.
