Jets Sign Rookie QB Tajh Boyd & WR Shaq Evans

The Jets announced that they have signed sixth-round pick QB Tajh Boyd and fourth-round WR Shaq Evans on Thursday.

New York has now signed seven of their 12 draft picks to contracts and could have their draft class locked up before the end of the week.

Boyd put together a great college career that includes several ACC records, but there are concerns about how his game translates to the NFL. The Jets clearly aren’t planning on him taking over as their starting quarterback at any point, so he can focus on competing with Matt Simms for the No. 3 quarterback job.

Evans is one of three receivers who drafted by the Jets last week and should be in the mix to for one of the team’s top-four receiver jobs during training camp.

At UCLA, he caught 133 passes for 1,956 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns.
