Jets Sign TE Clive Walford, Place TE Eric Tomlinson On IR

The New York Jets announced Thursday that they’ve signed TE Clive Walford and placed TE Eric Tomlinson on injured reserve.

Walford, 27, is a former third-round pick out of Miami by the Raiders in the 2015 NFL Draft. The Raiders elected to place him on waivers back in April and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

Walford lasted just a few months in New York and was unfortunately among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason. He recently had a brief stint with the Colts.

In 2017, Walford appeared in 13 games for the Raiders and recorded nine receptions for 80 yards receiving and no touchdown.

Tomlinson, 26, originally signed on with the Eagles in 2015 as an undrafted free agent out of UTEP. He was unfortunately among their final roster cuts, but later signed a future/reserve deal with the Texans.

Houston waived Tomlinson at the start of the 2016 regular season and he was later signed off of their practice squad by the Jets.

Tomlinson is in line to be a restricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Tomlinson appeared in 15 games for the Jets and caught eight passes for 72 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
