Jets Sign Three Rookies Including QB Bryce Petty

The New York Jets announced Thursday that they’ve signed three draft picks including: QB Bryce Petty, LB Lorenzo Mauldin and DT Deon Simon.

All four players will receive four-year contracts from the Jets.

Petty wound up being a fourth-round pick after there was some talk leading up to the first round that he could slip into the back end of round one.

The Jets have already said publicly that they plan to take things slow with Petty and go with Ryan Fitzpatrick or Geno Smith to start the season.

According to OverTheCap.com, Petty is projected to receive a four-year contract worth $2,825,624, which includes a signing bonus of $545,624.

During his four years at Baylor, Petty threw for 8,195 yards while completing 62.7 percent of his passes to go along with 62 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also contributed 338 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns on the ground.
