Jets Sign WR Chris Harper, Waive TE Braedon Bowman

The New York Jets announced that they’ve signed WR Chris Harper to a contract on Tuesday and placed TE Braedon Bowman on waivers.

Harper, 22, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of California back in May of 2015. He was able to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later waived and signed to the Patriots’ practice squad.

After Harper was cut loose at the start of the 2016 season, he signed on to the 49ers’ practice squad before eventually being promoted to their active roster. San Francisco, unfortunately, cut him loose shortly after this year’s NFL draft.

In 2016, Harper appeared in nine games for the 49ers and caught 13 passes for 133 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
