Jets Sign WR Frankie Hammond To Futures Deal

The New York Jets announced Monday that they’ve signed WR Frankie Hammond to a future/reserve contract.

Hammond becomes the 13th player to sign a futures deal with the Jets since their season ended. The full list includes:

  3. DL Claude Pelon
  4. FB Chris Swain
  5. TE Jason Vander Laan
  6. K Ross Martin
  7. LS Zach Triner
  8. OLB Frank Beltre
  9. WR Deshon Foxx
  10. FB Julian Howsare
  11. WR Myles White
  12. LB Jeff Luc
  13. WR Frankie Hammond

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.

Hammond, 26, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2013. He spent his rookie year on the Chiefs’ practice squad and later returned to the team on a futures deal.

Kansas City elected to bring Hammond back on an exclusive rights deal in 2015 but he was later cut loose at the start of the 2016 season and signed to their practice squad.

In 2015, Hammond appeared in nine games for the Chiefs and totaled 115 punt return yards and no receptions.
