Jets Signed LB Julian Stanford To Practice Squad, Release WR Wendall Williams

The New York Jets announced that they have signed LB Julian Stanford to their practice squad and released WR Wendall Williams to make room for him.

Stanford, 26, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Wagner back in 2012. He lasted over a year in Jacksonville before joining the Lions during the 2013 season.

Stanford played briefly for the Buccaneers last year before signing on to the Jets’ practice squad and later returning on a future/reserve contract.

In 2016, Stanford has appeared in three games and recorded a single tackle for the Jets.

Williams, 26, wound up signing on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Cumberlands back in May. He was, unfortunately, cut loose as the Texans trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

During the preseason, Williams caught two passes for 16 yards receiving and lost a fumble.
