Jets Sign DE Xavier Cooper, Jets Place TE Jordan Leggett On IR

The New York Jets announced that they’ve signed DE Xavier Cooper to a contract on Tuesday and placed TE Jordan Leggett on injured reserve.

Cooper, 25, is a former third-round pick out of Washington State by the Browns in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was entering the third year out of a four-year, $2.907 million rookie contract and set to earn a base salary of $615,00 for the 2017 season when the Browns cut him coming out of the preseason and he was later claimed off of waivers by the 49ers.

San Francisco elected to cut Cooper loose last week to make room for some veteran additions.

In 2017, Copper has appeared in five games and recorded seven tackles and a half sack for the 49ers.
