Jets Signing Veteran RB Bernard Pierce

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Jets are signing veteran RB Bernard Pierce to a contract on Wednesday.

It’s worth mentioning that Pierce is suspended for the first two games of the 2016 season.

The Jets currently have Matt Forte, Bilal Powell, Khiry Robinson, Zac Stacy and Dominique Williams at running back, so it won’t be easy for him to secure a roster spot this summer.

Pierce, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Ravens back in 2012. He spent three years in Baltimore before he was waived and later claimed off of waivers by the Jaguars.

Pierce’s 2015 season was cut short after he was placed on season-ending injured reserve with a calf injury. Last year, Pierce ran for 11 yards on six carries (1.8 YPC) to go along with three receptions for seven yards receiving and no touchdowns
