Jets Sign WR/KR Lucky Whitehead & TE Zach Conque To Practice Squad, Cut Two

The New York Jets officially signed WR/KR Lucky Whitehead and TE Zach Conque to their practice squad on Friday and released LB Jeremy Cash and DB Michael Hunter from the unit.

The Jets’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. OL Ben Braden
  2. DL Deon Simon
  3. CB Terrell Sinkfield
  4. OL Geoff Gray
  5. WR Damore’ea Stringfellow
  6. DE Claude Pelon
  7. WR Jalin Marshall
  8. RB Akeem Judd
  9. WR/KR Lucky Whitehead
  10. TE Zach Conque

Whitehead, 25, signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic back in 2015. He was in the final year of his three-year, $1.585 million contract and set to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2017 season when the Cowboys elected to move on from him, even though he had all charges against him dropped and the warrant for his arrest was rescinded in a legal matter that turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.

The Jets later claimed him off of waivers. Unfortunately, he was waived with an injury designation and later reverted to injured reserve before being waived with an injury settlement a few weeks later.

In 2016, Whitehead appeared in 15 games and caught three passes for 48 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also rushed for 82 yards on 10 carries to go along with 394 kick return yards.
