Jets Sticking With Bryce Petty As Starting QB For Week 16

Jets HC Todd Bowles told reporters after Sunday’s loss to the Saints that they plan to stick with Bryce Petty as their starting quarterback for Week 16’s game.

“He was poised wisely even into the game,” Bowles said, via NJ.com “He tried to execute the game plan. I thought it was a good experience for him.

Some have wondered why the Jets have refused to give former second-round pick Christian Hackenberg a shot to see what he can do. However, it appears as though Bowles and the Jets’ coaching staff feel like Petty still gives them their best opportunity to win a game.

Petty, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jets back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2,833,696 contract and is set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season.

Entering today’s game, Petty had thrown for 14 yards while completing two of nine passing attempts and no touchdowns or interceptions.
