Update:

The Jets announced that they have suspended CB Dimitri Patterson for the remainder of the preseason, but didn’t disclose and addition suspension.

New York Jets GM John Idzik announced Monday that they will suspend CB Dimitri Patterson indefinitely after he surprisingly skipped the team’s third preseason game.

Idzik did say that he expects Patterson’s suspension to be “brief.”

Patterson texted ESPN’s Josina Anderson earlier in the day and said that he was okay and wasn’t going AWOL. He referred to the situation as “comical,” but it appears as though the Jets don’t see this as a laughing matter.

Patterson, 30, was cut loose by the Dolphins earlier in the offseason. The Jets signed him to a one-year contract worth $3 million back in April and were hoping that he could solidify one of their corner positions.

Last year, Miami placed him on season-ending injured reserve with a groin injury back in December. He totaled 19 tackles, one sack and four interceptions for the Dolphins last season.
