Jets Trying Out WR Kyle Williams & LB Victor Butler

The New York Jets announced Tuesday that they are trying out WR Kyle Williams and LB Victor Butler during their minicamp this week.

The Jets previously worked out Williams back in April, so he is clearly on their radar.

Williams, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He spent three years in San Franscisco before catching on with the Chiefs in 2013.

The Broncos later signed him to a future/reserve contract, but he unfortunately suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in August of last year.

In 2013, Williams appeared in 10 games and recorded 12 receptions for 113 yards receiving and no touchdowns to go along with two carries for 23 yards rushing. Williams also contributed 134 kick return yards and another 61 punt return yards that season.

Butler, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2009. He played out his rookie contract with the Cowboys before signing a two-year deal with the Saints as an unrestricted free agent during the 2013 offseason.

Since then, Butler has played for the Cardinals and Colts before signing a future/reserve contract with the Giants after the 2014 season. Butler was unfortunately among the Giants final roster cuts last year, and hasn’t found any reported interest since then.

In 2014, Butler was limited to appearing in two games and recorded just two tackles for the Colts.
