Jets Trying To Re-Sign OT Ben Ijalana

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, the Jets are attempting to re-sign OT Ben Ijalana before the start of free agency next month.

New York just picked up $10 million of cap space by declining LT Ryan Clady‘s option, but they also have another area of need that will have to be addressed this offseason. It’s possible they could try to bring Clady back at a reduced cost, but it seems likely he’ll want to see what his options are.

Ijalana, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Colts back in 2011. He lasted just over a year in Indianapolis before he was waived and later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

Ijalana has returned to New York on one-year contract each of the past two seasons.

In 2016, Ijalana appeared in all 16 games for the Jets and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 60 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.
