Jets Unlikely To Pick Up OT Ben Ijalana’s Option, Could Re-Sign Him During Free Agency

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are unlikely to pick up OT Ben Ijalana‘s $500,000 option that would pay him a $4.5 million base salary for the 2018 season.

Monday marks the deadline for the Jets to decide on Ijalana’s option.

However, Rapoport says that New York could still bring Ijalana back during free agency.

Ijalana, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Colts back in 2011. He lasted just over a year in Indianapolis before he was waived and later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

Ijalana signed a two-year, $11 million contract with the Jets last year and would make a base salary of $4.5 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Ijalana was active for 11 games and played a total of 56 snaps for the Jets, according to Pro Football Focus.
