Jets Using First Round Pick Quinton Coples At A Number Of Positions

The New York Jets were one of nine NFL teams to start mini camp today, so the most notable player at today’s practice was obviously first-round pick Quinton Coples.

The Jets wound up using him all over their defensive line as he took snaps at  left end, right end, and tackle on Friday. So far, the Jets have yet to use Coples at outside linebacker, but versatility appears to be something they’re expecting out of their defensive front this year.

They used me all across the board,” said Coples, via the Newark Star-Ledger. “I played some tackle, I also played some defensive end, mostly pass-rushing techniques.

Coples figures to spend most of his time at defensive end, but passing rushing situations will most likely require him to move around some.
