Jets Viewed As A “Legitimate Landing Spot” For Michael VicK

Ian Rapoport reports that after speaking to people at the NFL Combine, the Jets are viewed as a “legitimate possible landing spot” for free agent QB Michael Vick.

  • Rapoport adds that there is “mutual respect” between the two sides and Vick could ultimately help Geno Smith with his development.

Manish Mehta of The New York Daily News reported on Sunday that the Jets are unlikely” to be an option for them, even though some have connected the dots between Vick and former Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg who is now with the Jets.

  • Mehta also mentioned that the Jets are “eyeing” Bears free agent QB Josh McCown.

Vick, who will be 34 in June, is arguably the best available quarterback in this year’s free agent class, so there is at least a decent chance that could secure an opportunity to compete for a starting job in training camp.

Other speculative options for Vick could include the Buccaneers and Raiders. We have Vick listed as the No. 42 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
