Jets Waive DL Anthony Johnson With Injury Designation

TheNew York Jets announced Sunday that they’ve waived DL Anthony Johnson with an injury designation to make room for new DE Kony Ealy.

Should Johnson pass through waivers unclaimed, he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list on Monday.

Johnson, 24, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of LSU back in May of 2014. He lasted just over a year in Miami before he was waived and later signed to the Redskins’ practice squad at the start of the 2015 season.

The Redskins brought Johnson back on a future/reserve contract and he eventually signed on with the Patriots shortly after the draft last year. After being added to the Patriots’ practice squad, the Jets signed him to their active roster last November.

In 2016, Johnson appeared in 11 games for and recorded 12 tackles and no sacks.
