Burks, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Troy before signing three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Packers. It appeared as though Burks was going to be the Packers’ No. 3 running back before they elected to waive him during their final roster cuts last season.
Green Bay brought Burks back in November of last year for a brief stint on their practice squad. Burks was later added to the Jets’ taxi squa before eventually being promoted to their active roster.
During his four-year college career at Troy, Burks recorded 430 carries for 2,253 yards (5.2 YPC) and 12 rushing touchdowns. He also accumulated 88 receptions for 673 yards receiving (7.6) and three touchdowns.
