Jets Waive TE Jerome Cunningham, Sign RB Romar Morris

The New York Jets announced Tuesday that they’ve placed TE Jerome Cunningham on waivers and signed RB Romar Morris to a contract.

Cunningham, 24, originally signed on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Connecticut Stat back in 2014. He was unfortunately unable to make the 53-man roster that year, but was later added to their practice squad.

Cunningham was able to make the team in 2015 coming out of the preseason, but he lasted just a few months before he was waived and later added to their practice squad.

The Giants waived him a few weeks ago, but the Jets elected to claim him off of waivers.

In 2015, Cunningham appeared in nine games for the Giants and recorded eight receptions for 59 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

Morris wound up going undrafted out of North Carolina a few weeks ago. This will be his first opportunity with an NFL team.

During his college career at UNC, Morris rushed for 1,024 yards on 213 carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with 54 receptions for 499 yards receiving and 14 total touchdowns.
