Jets Place Fourth-Round Pick WR Shaq Evans On IR

Update:

—————

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Jets have placed fourth-round pick WR Shaq Evans on injured reserve.

  • Schefter initially reported that the Jets had waived/injured Evans, but that was a mistake on his part.

Evans has not practiced since July 31 due to a fairly serious shoulder injury, so this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise given that the team will be forced to cut their roster to 75 by next Tuesday.

This move will allow them to keep Evans and give him the necessary time to recover and compete for a roster spot next year.

As things stand right now, the Jets have Eric DeckerJeremy Kerley, David Nelson and Stephen Hill listed as their top-four receivers with Clyde Gates, Greg Salas, Jalen Saunders and Jacoby Ford also competing for the roster spots.
