The New York Jets waived LB Julian Stanford with an injury designation on Wednesday.
This means that Stanford would revert to the Jets injured reserve list on Thursday if he passes through waivers unclaimed.
Stanford, 26, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Wagner back in 2012. He lasted over a year in Jacksonville before joining the Lions during the 2013 season.
Stanford played briefly for the Buccaneers last year before signing on to the Jets’ practice squad and later returning on a future/reserve contract. He was waived a few weeks into the regular season and later added to the Jets’ practice squad before getting the call up to the active roster a month ago.
In 2016, Stanford has appeared in nine games and recorded 22 tackles for the Jets.
