Jets Worked Out Veteran TE Gavin Escobar

Peter Schrager is reporting that the Jets brought in free agent TEĀ Gavin Escobar for a workout on Monday.

This comes after the news that the Jets worked out TE Tim Wright, so they’re clearly looking to bolster their depth at the position, even though they recently claimed Will Tye off waivers from the Giants.

Escobar, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $4.21 million rookie contract with the Cowboys and was testing the open market for the first time in his career when he signed aĀ one-year. $885,000 contract that included $80,000 guaranteed with the Chiefs this offseason.

Unfortunately, Kansas City elected toĀ Escobar loose this past weekend.

In 2016, Escobar appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and caught four passes for 30 yards receiving and one touchdown.
