Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are working out free agent QB Matt Flynn on Friday following the team’s first preseason game.

The Jets could use some additional depth behind Ryan Fitzpatrick now that Geno Smith is out 6-10 weeks with a broken jaw.

Flynn, 29, hadn’t found any reported interest on the open market before the Patriots signed him to a one-year deal back in June.

Obviously, the Patriots were looking to bolster their depth at quarterback following the four-game suspension handed down to Tom Brady for his role in DeflateGate. However, reports have said that Flynn never passed his physical with the team due to a hamstring.

There’s even been talk that Flynn could return to the Pats at some point.

In 2014, Flynn appeared in seven games and threw for 66 yards while completing 50 percent of his passes to go along with no touchdowns and an interception in garbage time for the Packers.
