Jets Have Yet To Approach HC Todd Bowles About An Extension

Darryl Slater of NJ.com reports that the Jets have yet to approach HC Todd Bowles regarding a contract extension.

Slater admits that it’s still possible the team could discuss a new deal for Bowles after the season now that the team has exceeded expectations so far this year.

There’s still a quarter of the 2017 season to evaluate the team and the coaching staff and Bowles is under contract through the 2018 season, so there’s really no rush to do a deal right now.

NFL teams typically give a head coach an extension when they’re in the final year of their current deal in order to prevent them from being a lame-duck head coach.

Bowles, 54, is in his third season as the Jets head coach and has led them to a record of 20-24 (45.5 percent) including one 10-win season in his first year with the team.

We’ll have more regarding a new contract for Bowles as the news is available.
