Jim Harbaugh Says He’s “Staying At Michigan”

Jim Harbaugh tells ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he has no plans to leave Michigan for an NFL job and said he has “big plans” at Ann Arbor.

“This is a choreographed message that comes up at this time every year before signing day,” Harbaugh said. “It’s people spreading messages to further their own personal agenda.

“But I’m on record right here, right now: I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying at Michigan. We have big plans here, and there’s a lot we want to accomplish.”

Harbaugh continues to come up as a name to watch for NFL jobs every year, but he’s maintained that he plans to stay at Michigan.

“I can’t be any more clear about this — it’s not true,” Harbaugh said. “I’m not going anywhere.

A few recent reports mentioned Harbaugh as someone the Packers could consider for their head-coaching vacancy.

Harbaugh, 54, signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with Michigan that includes 10 percent increases after the third and fifth year of his contract and a $2 million signing bonus. He also receives incentive bonuses for Big Ten championships, bowl appearances, coaching awards and team academic performance.

During his four years with the 49ers, he led them to a record of 44-19-1 (69.5 percent), which included three playoff appearances and an NFC Championship.

At Michigan, Harbaugh’s teams have produced a record of 38-13 (74.5 percent).
