Jim Kelly & Bruins Owner Jeremy Jacobs Expected To Be In The Mix To Purchase The Bills

John Wawrow of the Associate Press takes a look at who is in the running for the Buffalo Bills franchise that is expected to be sold at some point in the not-too-distant future.

Jim Kelly

According to Wawrow, former Bills QB Jim Kelly him is expected to “make a bid” to purchase the team.

Jim will be an active participant in it moving forward,” Dan Kelly, Jim’s brother tells the Associate Press. Jim is currently undergoing treatments for cancer after a recurrence, but it’s not expected to impact his participation.

Donald Trump

Billionaire Donald Trump has maintained that he expects to be involved in the bidding for the Bills and has said that he intends to keep them in Buffalo.

There’s nobody more serious than Donald Trump,” Trump’s executive vice president, Michael Cohen, mentioned earlier this week. “Donald Trump has made it crystal clear that the Bills will remain in Buffalo.”

Jeremy Jacobs (Boston Bruins owner)

A source tells the AP that Bruins’ owner Jeremy Jacobs is ” definitely a player,” even though he released a statement saying that he has no plans to see the Bruins to aid his pursuit of the Bills.

It’s worth noting that the NFL would require Jacobs to sell the team given that they do not allow owners to control multiple franchises in different markets than their NFL team.

Jacobs is from the Buffalo area, so he could be someone to watch.

Jon Bon Jovi

Wawrow reiterates that Bon Jovi and Larry Tanenbaum, chairman of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, are expected to pursue the team as well.

However, there isn’t any new information in regards to Bon Jovi at this time.
