Jim Schwartz To Remain Lions Head Coach

Carlos Monarez of the Detroit Free Press writes that Jim Schwartz will remain as the Lions head coach next season despite a very disappointing 2013.

After leading the Lions to a 10-6 record and their first playoff bid in the last 12 seasons, Schwartz has not been able to produce the same results or even build on the team’s 2011 success. There have been calls from fans to replace Schwartz, but the Lions reportedly haven’t even discussed the idea.

Monarez points out that the Ford family have “long memories” and realizes what Schwartz has done to turn this franchise around.

That’s a reasonable point, but another 4 win season could apply some added pressure to Schwartz and the team’s coaching staff.
