Joe Vitt Will Take Over As The Saints Head Coach

The New Orleans Saints have announced that assistant head coach Joe Vitt will replace Sean Payton once he’s done serving his six-game suspension.

Bill Parcells made the decision to stay retired which left Vitt as the clear option, considering that he filled in for Payton while he was dealing with his leg injury. Saints GM Mickey Loomis mentioned that Vitt will oversee their offseaon.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Saints’ OL coach Aaron Kromer is expected to take over as the Saints interim while Vitt is serving his suspension.

The good news for the Saints is that they have other coaches on their staff with head coaching experience like Steve Spagnoulo. New Orleans will most likely lean on him and others to help them in preparation for the season.

This will clearly be one of the main storylines heading into the 2012 season, and it would be an understatement to say that it will be interesting to see how the Saints respond to this adversity.
