Cardinals QB John Skelton Expected To Miss 2-4 Weeks

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that Cardinals QB John Skelton is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with a “low” ankle sprain.

This leaves Kevin Kolb as the team’s starting quarterback for at least their next two games against the Patriots and Eagles. Arizona has Ryan Lindley in place as their backup, but there’s still a chance that they could sign someone else rather than play the rookie if Kolb gets hurt.

Adam Caplan reports that x-rays on John Skelton’s ankle came back negative, but the Cardinals are still making calls regarding available quarterbacks.

Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 Phoenix is “hearing” that John Skelton suffered a high ankle sprain during Sunday’s win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Jurecki adds that the Cardinals expect Skelton to miss 4-6 weeks, which will force backup Kevin Kolb into action for the immediate future. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt offered very little optimism regarding Skelton’s status for the upcoming weeks, so Kolb will get one last chance of proving that he’s capable of being an NFL quarterback.
