Johnny Manziel Unlikely To Be An Option For The Jaguars At No. 3 Overall?

According to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times Union, the odds of the Jaguars drafting Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel at No. 3 overall are “remote.”

O’Halloran mentions that the Jaguars’ plans for their offense include: a strong running game, play-action passes and a strong armed quarterback capable of making plays down the field.

On top of that, O’Halloran mentions that Mazniel has questions regarding his height and durability. O’Halloran also believes drafting Manziel would likely require them to overhaul their offensive scheme to fit his skill set.

Some have mentioned that Manziel would make sense for the Jaguars based on their need for a quarterback and the fact that they are currently without a “face of the franchise.

Greg Cosell recently expressed some concern about Manziel’s pro prospects.

“When it’s third-and-six, and Russell Wilson sees he can run for eight yards and get a first down, he just runs for eight yards and gets out of bounds,” Cosell said during an interview with Ross Tucker. “There’s a purpose to his movement. Now I’m interpreting Johnny Manziel on film, but quite frankly, when he moves I see a guy who moves, and then tries to figure it out. And I’m not sure that that works in the NFL.”

ESPN’s Ron Jaworski also mentioned that he wouldn’t draft Manziel “in the first three rounds,” so it appears as though Manziel could be the most polarizing quarterback prospect in this year’s draft class.

For what it’s worth, we have Manziel going to the Raiders at No. 5 overall in our recently updated 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
