Johnny Manziel’s Lawyer Texts AP That They’re Seeking Plea Deal In Domestic Assault Case, Father Calls Him A “Druggie”

Update:

Johnny Manziel‘s father, Paul Manziel, tells ESPN’s Josina Anderson that his son is a “duggie” and needs help.

In fact, his father went as far to say that he hopes he ends up in jail, so that it becomes clear that he needs to figure things out.

“He’s a druggie. It’s not a secret that he’s a druggie,” Manziel’s father said. “I don’t know what to say other than my son is a druggie and he needs help. He just hasn’t seeked it yet. Hopefully he doesn’t die before he comes to his senses. That’s about all you can say. I don’t know what else to say. I hate to say it but I hope he goes to jail. I mean, that would be the best place for him. So we’ll see.

Manziel’s father explained that he had his son in rehab, but Johnny was able to leave before he had truly turned a corner in regards to his issues.

“I had him in rehab and he escaped and the doctors let him go and that is a whole other story,” Manziel’s father said. “So, I mean I had him [in rehab] and the system failed. It didn’t work. He has more money than me, so he can outrun me. Like I said there are two things are going to happen: He’s either going to die, or he’s going to figure out that he needs help. It’s one of the two. But we’ve done everything that we can do. Life goes on. You can’t just chase somebody that’s not willing to listen. The story is not going to change. It’s the same.”

Bob Hinton, the defense attorney for former NFL QB Johnny Manziel, sent a text message to the Associated Press that shows he’s seeking a plea deal in his domestic violence case.

However, Hinton indicated that he has doubts about the Manziel’s ability to stay clean.

“Heaven help us if one of the conditions is to pee in a bottle,” wrote Hinton.

The message was specifically sent to an AP reporter who had contacted Hinton asking for comment regarding the recent a hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle registered to Manziel.

Beyond that, Hinton’s text message said that he was given a receipt by a colleague that purports to show Manziel spent over $1,000 at a drug paraphernalia shop just 15 hours after the crash.

Although, Hinton says it is not known whether the receipt from the paraphernalia store is legitimate.

Earlier in the week, TMZ reported that a car owned by Manziel was involved in a bad accident in Dallas. However, it’s worth mentioning that police have said that they have no record of a crash involving Manziel.

Manziel’s 2015 Nissan GTR had the driver’s side completely smashed in and appeared to be t-boned. TMZ has confirmed that the car is still registered to Manziel, and happens to be the same vehicle he was driving in the domestic incident involving his former girlfriend.

Multiple sources have told TMZ that the car was at a Dallas apartment complex where Manziel is supposedly staying.

We’ll have more regarding Manziel as the news is available.
