Jon Gruden Back As Raiders Coach?

Hub Arkush of ProFootballWeekly.com informed Dan Bernstein that the Oakland Raiders “are in talks” with Jon Gruden to return as their head coach.

This is definitely a surprise, but it’s hard to say whether or not this is an actual possibility. Gruden’s name has been tossed out as a potential option for almost every available coaching job in the country.

GM Reggie McKenzie recently mentioned that he’s still believes Dennis Allen will be a great head coach, but owner Mark Davis has expressed some concern about the current state of the team, so I guess replacing him is at least a remote possibility.

For what it’s worth, I think it would wise for the Raiders to give Allen another year. They’ve been forced to cut or allow some decent players to leave via free agency like Kamerion Wimbley and Michael Bush. On top of that, they had only a few draft picks to work with, so he should be given fair shot at seeing what he can do with some better talent.
