Pro Football Talk reports that a source with knowledge of the situation has informed them that Panther RB Jonathan Stewart is unlikely to play in tonight’s game against the New York Giants.

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said running back Jonathan Stewart will be a game-time decision tonight as they host the Giants, per Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer.

“It’s one those things where if we’re playing on Sunday, he’s got a much, much better chance than he does if we’re playing on Thursday,” Rivera said, via Person. “He came out and it was still a little stiff, a little bit sore. They’re going to continue to work it out and see how he is.”

Stewart will be working with the team trainers prior to the game in hope to help him suit up tonight. Rivera said Stewart is not suffering from turf toe but rather an ankle injury that is connected to his toe. We’ll know more about Stewart’s status for tonight’s game as the day goes on.
