Josh McCown & Shaun Hill Expected To Be On Buccaneers’ Radar In Free Agency

Ian Rapoport reports that the Buccaneers will be in the market for a backup quarterback in the coming weeks.

The Buccaneers have been rumored to have interest in McCown for a few months, so this isn’t all that surprising to hear. However, this is the first we’ve regarding Shaun Hill and Tampa Bay.

Hill, 34, signed a two-year deal with Detroit back in 2012 and spent the past two years backing up Matthew Stafford in Detroit.

He’s considered to be one of the better backup quarterback options in the league, but he hasn’t seen a lot of action since 2010 when he played in 11 games for Detroit.

McCown, 34, rejuvenated his career in Chicago last year under Marc Trestman, so you would have to think that it would take a decent amount of compensation and/or playing time to convince him to leave a good situation.

Recent reports have indicated that McCown should be one of the more sought after quarterbacks in this year’s free agent market. The Jets and Raiders have both come up as potential options.

Last year, McCown completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 1,829 yards to go along with 13 touchdowns and just a single interception.

We have McCown listed as the No. 65 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
