Josh McDaniels To The Colts “Still A Go” Despite Rumors He Could Stay With Patriots

Last night, reports surfaced that there was “increasing chatter” throughout the day that Patriots OC Josh McDaniels could decide to remain in New England instead of taking the Colts’ head-coaching job (NFLTR).

However, a source with knowledge of the situation tells Mike Chappell of FOX 59 that the Colts are not considering backup options and an official announcement regarding McDaniels being hired as their next head coach could come as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday.

Tom Curran of NBC Sports Boston (per Tom James) said on the “Dan Patrick Show” Monday that McDaniels becoming the Colts’ head coach is “still a go.

McDaniels, 41, began his NFL coaching career with the Patriots as a personnel assistant back in 2001. He worked his way up to offensive coordinator in New England before he departed for the Broncos head-coaching job in 2009.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go very well for McDaniels with the Broncos and he was fired during his second year with the team.

After a brief stint with the Rams as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, McDaniels returned to the Patriots and has been running their offense ever since.

We’ll have more regarding McDaniels as the news is available.
