Kevin Kolb’s Bonus Money Less Than Initially Reported

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that the guaranteed money in Kevin Kolb‘s contract is “actually closer to $12 million” than the $21 million that had been previous reported.

We have posted previous articles that have mentioned that Kolb will have a $7 million roster bonus due on March 17th but Somers adds that the “$7 million is guaranteed only for injury.” This means that the Cardinals will only have to pay him that money if he’s injured and they will not have to pay the his workout bonus either.

Somers still expects Arizona to keep Kolb for another season.

The idea was floated that the Cardinals could release Kolb before his bonus is due which would allow them to pursue Peyton Manning, but that idea has lost some traction in recent weeks. Looks like Kolb should be under center for another year in Arizona.
